Epitome of Darkness, Repugnant (2006)

This album being directly related to Tobias Forge, it was one of my earliest expositions to Death Metal, and I used to think that this album was a true work of art. These are 10 tracks of pure violence and heavy, distorted riffs meddled with the never-ending noise of the drums. I still believe that this album deserved more recognition, but I'm almost sure that I'm not objective in my opinion, given that this record holds a true sentimental value for me. When I manage to really analyse the melody, the riffs, the chords and the rythm, sometimes I realise that a few songs look alike quite a lot, and that this work might not be as interesting as I thought it was. However it was a step in Tobias Forge's career, and an important clue to understand where the metal influences in the music of Ghost come from. Tobias Forge actually received voice training after his vocal capacities became very strained, and during the time when he was embodying Mary Goore, damaged his voice heavily due to screaming a lot and wrongly. Remember, metalheads, that voice is an instruments that needs a lot of training, as any other, and if you know how to scream the first time you try, then you probably don't know shit x)

I would still recommend listening to this record, mostly "Premature Burial" and "Another Vision", however keep in mind that you might not find it as awesome as I did.

Listen to it now!
